Apple Music today announced the opening of two Mac Labs at the A.R. Rahman founded KM Music Conservatories (KMMC) based in Chennai and the upcoming campus in Mumbai. The Mac Labs will teach students how to create music using Logic Pro X, Apple’s professional music creation app for the Mac.
Apple Music’s contribution will fund 10 full time musical scholarships for students from underprivileged backgrounds, the company said.
“Apple Music and the KM Music Conservatory share a deep love in discovering, sharing and nurturing musical talent and we’re proud to be supporting such an institution that is investing in the future arts and music community,” said Eddy Cue, Senior Vice President of Internet Software and Services, Apple.
Globally, Apple is partnering with Steven Spielberg and aims to revive his old “Amazing Stories” show that ran on NBC in the ’80s, via a deal with NBCUniversal. The terms of the deal were not disclosed yet.
According to a report by The Wall Street Journal on Tuesday, Apple could be paying almost $5 million per episode for 10 episodes of the new show.
Apple did not released any statement about the deal, but NBC celebrated the partnership, via a comment it attributes to NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke that reads,”It’s wonderful to be reunited with our colleagues Zack [Van Amburg] and Jamie [Erlicht] in their new capacity at Apple. We love being at the forefront of Apple's investment in scripted programming, and can't think of a better property than Spielberg's beloved "Amazing Stories" franchise with the genius of Bryan Fuller at the helm and more exciting creative partnerships to come”
