Honor to soon launch quad camera smartphone in India

We believe the smartphone would be Honor 9 Lite which was launched in China in December last year for CNY 1,199 (approximately Rs 11,700).

Honor, the e-brand of Huawei, will launch a new quad camera smartphone in the Indian market later this month. Taking forward the dual camera legacy, the next smartphone is tailor-made for the selfie lovers with dual front cameras.

The company today further revealed that new smartphone will also come with a flagship style glass unibody with mirror effect rear glass, similar to what has been seen in premium smartphones like Honor 8 and Honor 9 and other smartphones like Apple iPhone X.

Honor’s currently available quad camera smartphone Honor 9i has already set the bar of mobile photography, and with the soon to be launched device, the company further aims to cement its position.

We believe the smartphone would be Honor 9 Lite, which was launched in China in December last year for CNY 1,199 (approximately Rs. 11,700). The smartphone comes with an 18:9 edge-to-edge display, four cameras and a bezel-less design.

The Honor 9 Lite runs on Android 8.0 Oreo with Honor's EMUI skin on top. The smartphone features a 5.65-inch full-HD+ IPS display with a resolution of 1080x2160 as compared to the 16:9 panel of the Honor 9.

The Honor 9 Lite comes with four cameras – a 13+2MP dual camera setup on the back as well as the front. The cameras also come coupled with a LED flash and PDAF autofocus.

The dual SIM smartphone will run on EMUI 8.0 on top of Android 8.0 Oreo and is powered by Huawei'd custom HiSilicon Kirin 659 processor, which according to Huawei is more powerful than Honor 9.

In China, the Honor 9 Lite has been launched in three variants – 3GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage for CNY 1,199 (approximately Rs. 11,700.), 4GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage for CNY 1,499 (approximately Rs. 15,600) and 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage for CNY 1,799 (approximately Rs. 17,500).

Other connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, and Micro-USB with OTG support. The smartphone houses 3,000mAh battery, which, the company claims, deliver up to 20 hours of talk time on 3G and a standby time of up to 24 days.
