In what could come as a disappointing news for Windows 10 S users, Apple has confirmed that iTunes won’t make it to the Microsoft Store this year.

Back in May 2017 at the Microsoft Build Conference, Terry Myerson, Executive Vice President of Windows and Devices at Microsoft, announced that iTunes will be coming to Windows 10 (now Microsoft Store) later this year.

"We have been working with Microsoft to deliver the full iTunes experience to our customers and we need a little more time to get it right," tech website ZDNet.com quoted an Apple spokesperson as saying.

Windows users were able to download iTunes directly from Apple. But users of Windows 10 S which is an “streamlined" variant of the operating system can only install apps from the Windows Store.

The absence of iTunes in the Microsoft Store could disappoint Windows 10 S users, as with this Windows version you can only run apps that are available in the Microsoft Store. With Windows 10 S, Microsoft is targeting students and users who want longer battery life and better security, but are ready to be restricted to Store apps only.

The move to bring Apple iTunes into the Microsoft Store could help Microsoft to uplift its app library to more developers. At the Build conference, Myerson also announced Autodesk Stingray and SAP Digital Boardroom apps coming to the store, in addition to Spotify.

But neither Apple nor Microsoft is providing any official timeline for the inclusion of iTunes into the Microsoft Store.
