Today people are watching all kinds of video content over the Internet -- from news clips to TV shows to full-length movies at home, at work, and on the go. And as videos will drive 75 per cent of India's mobile data traffic by 2021, content providers need to be equipped to scale up and deliver dynamic user experiences.

Stepping into that race, Sony Pictures Networks (SPN) has partnered with Cisco to extend SonyLIV video experiences to Amazon Fire TV and Apple TV customers in the country.

“The digital revolution has transformed the way people consume content. Our focus is on bringing the best of Cisco’s technology expertise and our content prowess to establish new benchmarks in the OTT space,” said Uday Sodhi, EVP and Head – Digital Business, SonyLIV.

SonyLIV is the first premium Video on demand (VOD) service that provides multi-screen engagement for users on all devices.

Through Cisco IVP, SonyLIV will be able to scale up, brand and market its OTT app on Amazon Fire TV and Apple TV in India. The Cisco Infinite Video Platform (IVP) will provide SonyLIV a fully cloud-based infrastructure, allowing the streaming service to broadcast more than 40,000 hours premium viewing experiences, including Live TV.

Cisco IVP also offers security protocols that protect the video content, the app and the infrastructure from all kinds of threats.

The SonyLIV app is available in Apple (iOS) and Android app stores. New Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV owners can download the SonyLIV app from the App Stores. SonyLIV provides users a rich array of movies, strong line-up of events across all sports, shows, music, product reviews.

“Cisco’s Infinite Video Platform offers SonyLIV an opportunity to secure its place as the leader by delivering broadcast-quality entertainment to Amazon Fire TV and Apple TV consumers,” added Sanjay Kaul, Managing Director, Service Provider Business, Cisco India & SAARC.
