E-commerce giant Amazon now lets you recharge prepaid mobiles of all telecom networks anytime, anywhere using the Amazon app or website. As an introductory offer, Amazon is offering a flat 50 per cent cash back, not exceeding Rs. 100, till December 31, 2017.
‘With its superior experience, Amazon Pay has become very popular among customers who use it not just to shop on Amazon.in but across several categories including food and travel. The launch of mobile recharges has opened up another avenue for customers to utilise their Amazon Pay balance’, said Shariq Plasticwala, Director, Payments.
Amazon Pay offers a secure way to pay digitally and has helped customers to be less dependent on cash and transact effortlessly. With faster check outs and ease of use, Amazon Pay seeks to improve the shopping experience for customers across the country. It offers curated payment experiences (Pay on Delivery, Fast Lane cards) across existing payment methods (Debit cards, Credit Cards, Net Banking) and its own payment processing service (Amazon Pay balance).
Earlier this year, Amazon had launched cash load at doorstep facility, which allows customers use the cash loaded in their Amazon Pay Balance to recharge their mobile phones in addition to shopping on Amazon.in.
‘We look forward to adding newer categories and innovating on behalf of customers as we continue to simplify the payments experience in India’, added Plasticwala.
In October, Amazon India announced its Android mobile application, which has reached 100 million downloads on Google Play Store, growing its download base by two times in the last one year.
According to Similarweb, the Amazon app has the highest penetration (in the shopping category) among Android users in India with one out of every three users having the app on their phones.
