Home-bred Optiemus Infracom, the brand BlackBerry licensed for manufacturing and selling BlackBerry-branded phones India today launched two new smartphones -- Evolve and Evolve X, starting at a price of Rs 24,990.

Both the smartphones features an all-glass body, an edge-to-edge displays with a big aspect ratio of 18:9 and harness power from a huge 4,000mAh battery which when coupled with BlackBerry's stock Android and battery saving optimisations could ensure a longer battery life. Both the phones come with dual rear cameras and 16MP front cameras.

"Our strategy to partner locally and license the design and manufacture of secure Android BlackBerry smartphones continues to gather momentum with this latest launch by our partner, Optiemus Infracom," said Alex Thurber, SVP and GM of Mobility Solutions at BlackBerry.

Both the Evolve X and Evolve are conceptualised, designed and manufacture in the Optiemus’s Noida facility.

The Evolve X is the superior of the two and comes with a 5.99-inch full-HD+ LTPS display with a 1080x2160 pixel resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor (like the KEY2) with 6GB RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. The Evolve X runs Android 8.1 Oreo and supports Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0 and wireless charging.

At the rear, the Evolve X sports 12MP sensor and another 13MP sensor for bokeh effect photography. On the front, the Evolve X supports Face Unlock via 16MP camera which the company claims can unlock the device in just 0.4 seconds.

The Evolve is largely similar to Evolve X on the design front but comes with low specs. The screen size, display ratio and the battery is same except the fact that Evolve does not support wireless charging. Camera specs are also same as Evolve X. The Evolve is powered by a low-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor and comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB expandable storage.

While the Evolve costs Rs 24,990, the Evolve X is priced at Rs 34,990. Both the phones will be available exclusively from Amazon India. While the Evolve X will be available from August end, consumers can purchase Evolve starting from mid-September onwards.
