The engrossing fantasy world of Witcher is back to mesmerise die-hard gaming fans with its beautiful open-world game.

Witcher has been one of the most successful franchises in the gaming world and the developers, CD Projekt, decided to take a bold move and make sure the third instalment isn’t just a rehash of their winning formula. Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the series first open world game, which let’s you explore the beautiful yet gloomy landscape of the Northern Kingdoms, take up contracts for killing monsters and of course, still play the actual theme of game, in search of god daughter Ciri. For new gamers, the protagonist, Geralt of Rivia may remind you of the White Walkers in The Game of Thrones, but he is actually a trained monster hunter for hire. Something like Ronin. Witcher 3 is not about unrest and kingdom feuds.

These fights still take place, but the key is to find Ciri, who possesses powers to teleport between worlds, which outer world forces called The Wild Hunt desperately want, so that they can invade different worlds around the universe. As it is more of a role playing game, Witcher 3 is not your random slasher title, therefore a combination of cut, dodge and deceive is required to master. Keep in mind, timing is everything as your enemies will plot and plan before they try to take you down. There will be additional weapons available like crossbows and bombs, but as you will also fight against supernatural enemies, you will have to have a strong grasp over magical spells. One very cool spell, which gives you the ability to do a Jedi on your attacker let’s you control his mind and influence his conversation. So, you can feel the “force” within you, which actually gives you quite a rush. After getting used to Assassin’s Creed slick controls, your character Geralt feels heavy and chunky, but in time you get used to it.

His movement feels fine, but when it comes to jumping over things or climbing buildings, the controls feel sluggish. A word of advice, when you enter busy streets, it is best to walk on foot rather than trot on your trusty horse, Roach. He is, no doubt, very quick, but in a bustling environment the horse may not always take you to the exact location you have to reach, as chaotic surroundings confuse him a bit. The graphics are mind-boggling, to say the least. The wind rustling through the leaves, sunlight entering the forests, even the natural flow of characters’ hair, all this is captured to perfection. It is a spell-binding game. While we have to admit that the storyline is not the best, but the game play, graphics, action controls make it the best Witcher game. Even though it is an open world game, the plot is straight forward and lets you do your own thing without frustrating you. This is a must buy game, irrespective of whether you are a Witcher fan or not.
