HMD Global launches Nokia 8.3 5G, three other phones and HMD Connect data roaming service

HMD Global has launched four Nokia smartphones: The Nokia 8.3 5G, the Nokia 5.3, the Nokia 1.3 and the Nokia 5310 in Europe. The Finnish giant also unveiled HMD Connect global data roaming service.

HMD Global, which sells Nokia branded phones, has launched its first 5G smartphone and three three other Nokia phones, as well as a HMD Connect global data roaming service. The Nokia 8.3 5G is the first 5G Nokia smartphone added to the portfolio, and is joined by the Nokia 5.3 and Nokia 1.3, as well as the latest addition to the Originals family, the Nokia 5310. The company also announced that fans can now get exclusive 007 branded special edition Kevlar Case for the Nokia 6.2 and Nokia 7.2.

‘Today we are kicking off a new chapter for HMD Global as we step into 5G with a truly global, future-proof smartphone. Combined with the launch of HMD Connect, we are creating a truly seamless experience in terms of connectivity,’ Florian Seiche, Chief Executive Officer, HMD Global, said in a statement. While talking tech about the phones, Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer, HMD Global, said, ‘With the help of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G Modular Platform, we’ve created a truly global 5G Nokia smartphone that’s designed with cost, usability and future-proofing in mind. The Nokia 8.3 5G also features the highest number of 5G New Radio bands from 600hmz all the way up to 3.8GHz.’

Pricing and availability

The Nokia 8.3 5G will be available globally starting in summer 2020 and comes in Polar Night for a global average retail price of 599 Euros (approx Rs 48,400) for 6GB/64GB variant and 649 Euros (approx Rs 52,400) for 8GB/128GB storage option.

The Nokia 5.3 will be available globally starting in April and comes in Cyan, Sand and Charcoal colours. The only 4GB/64GB variant is priced at 189 Euros (approx Rs 15,000). The Nokia 1.3 will go on sale in April and comes in Cyan, Sand and Charcoal at a price of 95 Euros (approx Rs 7,600). The Nokia 5310 will be available in White/Red and Black/Red, starting in March for 39 Euros (approx Rs 3,000).

Nokia 8.3 5G specs

The Nokia 8.3 5G features a 6.81-inch display. As mentioned above, the phone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G which is paired with up to 8GB RAM and up to 128GB storage. The phone has a 4,500mAh battery. In terms of camera, the phone has a four snappers on the back with a 64MP primary sensor, a 12MP sensor with ultra-wide lens, a 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. On the front is a 24Mp selfie snapper.

Nokia 5.3 specs

The Nokia 5.3 has a 6.55-inch display with a waterdrop notch. It is powered by a Snapdragon 665 processor coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The phone has a 4,000mAh battery which is claimed to deliver up to 2-days of run time. On the optics front, the phone comes with a quad camera setup, with a 13MP primary sensor, a 5MP ultrawide camera, a 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth sensor.

Nokia 1.3 and Nokia 5310

The Nokia 1.3 is an Android Go smartphone with a 5.71-inch display and a Snapdragon 250 mobile platform. The phone features an 8MP camera and ships with Google’s new Camera Go app. The 5310 has the traditional candybar design and runs on the Nokia Series 30+ operating system. It comes with an integrated FM antenna.
