It’s interesting to see how smartphones have evolved in the last few years. Although days of physical keyboards and 3.5mm jacks are no more, there are still many devices that use buttons for volume and engineering mechanisms for the camera, like in the Vivo Nex. But, Meizu has gone one step ahead with the Meizu Zero smartphone, which will completely do away with ports and buttons.
Yes, you read it right! The Meizu Zero will not have any ports of any kind. There is no volume or power buttons, no speaker grill, no SIM card slot, no charging port, and, of course, no headphone jack. The only design component is the camera bump and the tiny holes for the microphone and hard reset.
Surprisingly, the Chinese company isn’t using any new technology but a combination of available tech in one package. It has an in-display fingerprint scanner, 18W wireless charging, haptic feedback for ‘virtual’ volume, power buttons on the side similar to HTC U12+ and uses eSIM technology. For sound, Meizu is using ‘mSound 2.0’ – a technology that emits audio from the display itself, which is again something we have already heard in the past.
The Meizu Zero will have with a 5.9-inch OLED display without a notch, dual 20+12MP cameras on the rear, 20MP front camera and Snapdragon 845 SoC.
The company hasn’t yet shared any storage specs, new about the availability and pricing of the smartphone.
