Apple has sent out media invites for an event scheduled for September 10, where the tech giant will launch new iPhones and the Apple Watch. The upcoming iPhone 11 is rumoured to come with Apple Pencil and USB Type-C charging. Apple Pencil was to arrive last year with the iPhone Xs and the iPhone Xs Max, but that didn’t happen.

According to media reports, Apple is planning to use ‘Pro’ naming convention for this year’s models. While the successor to the iPhone XR will be called iPhone 11, the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max successors would be called iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max, respectively.

The main USP of these high-end models will be a triple rear camera setup, consisting of a wide-angle, a telephoto, and an ultra-wide lens in a square-shaped module. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the new camera software developed by Apple for the iPhone 11 will be able to take three images simultaneously from each of the lenses and then combine them together to create a high-resolution image. Improvements in video quality are also expected. The standard iPhone is expected to retain the dual camera setup. Face ID will also get a significant update on each model. The new iPhones will be powered by the 7nm based A13 processors, which will provide fast performance as compared to previous generation processors.

Apple is also planning to bring underwater photography, for which it has also filed a patent for a system that has the ability to automatically adjust camera settings when the iPhone is underwater.

Apple will also launch the Watch Series 5, which is expected to come in premium titanium and ceramic casings in 40mm and 44mm sizes, similar to the Apple Watch Series 4.

While the Watch Series 5 will reportedly look like last year’s models, the major difference could be in the processor, along with a few other changes. The watch will run on watchOS 6 that will come with new features including a dedicated App Store, new health features, noise app and the cycle tracking feature.
