Photo-sharing app Instagram has announced a new feature that allows users to share IGTV videos to Instagram Story. Till now, users were only able to add a link to an IGTV video on business accounts that let users to swipe and be taken to view the full IGTV video.

The new feature let users share a glimpse of any IGTV video in their stories.

“Now you can share your favorite IGTV videos to your story. Tap the paper airplane at the bottom of the video you want to share. When friends see your story, they can tap the preview to watch the whole video in IGTV,” Instagram said in a blog post.

In June, Instagram launched IGTV, a new app for watching long-form, vertical video from your favourite Instagram creators. With IGTV, Instagram wants to attract “web celebrities”, instead of media companies, and has been actively courting individuals to start producing content.

The company has not yet revealed any numbers on how well IGTV’s been doing since the launch, but with the new feature Instagram wants to close the gap between IGTV (which also lives as a standalone app) and the main Instagram app.

And just like turning on the TV, IGTV starts playing as soon as you open the app. You don’t have to search to start watching content from people you already follow on Instagram and others you might like based on your interests. You can swipe up to discover more — switch between “For You,” “Following,” “Popular” and “Continue Watching.” You can also like, comment and send videos to friends in Direct.
