Samsung may be looking to launch its premium and first foldable phone, the Galaxy Fold, in India on October 1. According to the reports making rounds on the internet, the phone is likely to be priced between Rs 1.5 lakh-Rs 1.75 lakh. The handset is said to be sold through select retail outlets and available only if a customer has pre-booked it. Moreover, the device is claimed to come with an exclusive access to specialised customer care services - including one-on-one access to Samsung experts, and a 24/7 support hub online or over the phone.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that Samsung will start sales of the smartphone in the US on September 27. The phone has already been up for grabs in South Korea, and is available in Cosmos Black and Space Silver colour options. Samsung Electronics re-launched the phone on its home turf on September 6 after eliminating display- and design-related problems in it. Further, to avoid a repeat of any screen-related issues, the South Korean tech firm is offering a one-time-only screen replacement for $149.

The Galaxy Fold was launched at MWC this year but soon after it was sent for review in the US, several reviewers confirmed that the displays on their respective units malfunctioned. The company recalled the phones and found out that the reviewers removed the top layer of the display -- which was not supposed to be peeled off -- causing damage to the screen. Samsung was working on improving the design and construction of the phone.

Samsung Galaxy Fold specifications:

The smaller one is an HD+ Super AMOLED Infinity Flex Display, while the larger one is a ‘Dynamic AMOLED panel’. Samsung hasn’t confirmed what processor powers the handset, but it says that the handset runs on a “7nm processor.” It is most likely the Samsung Exynos 9820 mobile platform. The mobile processor is coupled with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.0 storage. The handset draws power from a 4380mAh battery.
