The Rs 10,000-Rs 15,000 market just got hotter as two of the major players, Redmi and Samsung, have launched the Note 9 Pro and Galaxy M21 smartphones, respectively. The handsets are loaded with features and are competitively priced. Below is a spec comparison that will help you decide which phone you should purchase. Both the phones are priced starting Rs 12,999.

Design and display

The Samsung M21 has a 6.4-inch sAMOLED display with full-HD+ (1080×2340 pixels) resolution. It has a waterdrop notch, and the triple camera setup & fingerprint sensor on the back. There’s a USB Type-C port for fast charging. In comparison, the Redmi Note 9 Pro has a 6.67-inch FHD+ punch-hole display. There is a quad-camera setup on the back and the fingerprint sensor is located on the power button.

Processor, RAM and Storage

The Galaxy M21 is powered by the Exynos 9611 chipset, which also powers the Galaxy M30s and the recently-launched Galaxy M31. The phone comes in two configurations – 4GB RAM + 64GB storage and 6GB RAM + 128GB storage. The device runs One UI 2.0 based on Android 10. Meanwhile, the Note 9 Pro has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G processor, which is manufactured using the 8nm fabrication process. Just like its Samsung counterpart, the phone is offered in 4GB + 64GB and 6GB + 128GB storage variants.

Camera

As mentioned, the Samsung Galaxy M21 smartphone features three cameras at the back panel. The setup includes a 48MP primary sensor, an 8MP sensor coupled with an ultra-wide-angle lens (123-degree Field of View), and a 5MP depth sensor. On the front is a 20MP camera. On the software front, the phone comes with Nightmode, Pro mode, Live Focus and 4K video recording.

The Redmi Note 9 Pro has a quad-camera setup with a 48MP Samsung ISOCELL Bright GM2 sensor, an 8MP sensor coupled with ultra-wide-angle lens (119-degree Field of View), a 2MP depth sensor, and a 5MP macro camera. The rear camera has Ultra nightscape mode, Pro mode, Portrait mode background blur adjustment, and 4K video recording, among other features. On the front is a 16MP camera.

The Samsung Galaxy M21 packs a massive 6,000mAh battery with 15W fast charging technology. The phone will be available in Black and Blue colour options. In comparison, the Redmi Note 9 Pro has a 5020mAh battery with an 18W fast charger in the box. It will be available in Interstellar Black, Aurora Blue, and Glacier White colours.
