In a bid to meet the dual need of rider safety and bike management, Internet of Things (IoT) service provider Aeris today announced a connected bike solution that can turn motor cycles into connected vehicles – at the ongoing Internet of Things Expo 2018, here
The connected motor bike solution is designed to promote safe riding habits and pinpoint the location of a crash victim for emergency services.
"Rider safety is a crucial benefit that this product delivers. The connected bike solution delivers a truly connected experience to bike owners, making bike riding a more pleasant experience," Rishi Bhatnagar, President at Aeris India, said in a statement.
The mobile owners can also immobilise the bike remotely in case of theft. When fitted on a motor bike or any other two-wheeler, the solution will generate a data stream that can help the bike owner track the bike, figure out the location, provide a maintenance schedule, see speeding alerts and get alerts when the bike enters or leaves a specified area (geo-fencing).
The solution can also help service firms that own or run large bike fleets. It helps maintain the fleet efficiently while keeping track of bike usage.
Apart from individual owners and service firms, insurance firms can make use of the data from bikes to decide on premiums while offering incentives to bike owners to ride in compliance with traffic norms.
