Amazon India today announced a new monthly plan for its flagship Prime membership programme. Priced at Rs 129 per month, the monthly plan offers the same benefits as the annual plan including unlimited free Bollywood and International titles on Prime Video, ad-free music streaming on Amazon Prime Music and Prime Exclusive deals.

Customers who prefer to pay annually, can do so by signing up for the annual plan for Rs 999 per year.

“We are excited to launch Prime monthly membership and offer more payment flexibility to customers. Customers are used to paying for a lot of services on a monthly basis – be it their rent, electricity and mobile bills, and we want to offer this same convenience for Prime,” said Akshay Sahi, Director and Head of Prime, Amazon India.

With monthly Prime membership programme, consumers can still enjoy unlimited free one day and two-day delivery without minimum purchase on millions of items from Amazon.in.

“Once the membership starts, the membership will auto-renew on the same date of every month. There is no further action needed by members to enjoy uninterrupted Prime benefits,” the company added.

The company recently announced “Bookstore” -- an end-to-end solution for all school books including textbooks, notebooks, guides and competitive exams which will be available on its e-commerce platform Amazon.in.

With Bookstore, Amazon seeks to lighten the load on parents and students of running around for school supplies and be their one stop destination to shop by class, subject and board.

“Right from nursery to 12th standard, parents can find books for all subjects across different boards - CBSE, ICSE & IGCSE - and publishers such as NCERT, with delivery at their doorsteps. The store is segregated into books for each class and subject, across different syllabi, for an easy shopping experience,” the company said.
