Apple announced a slew of innovative features for its AirPods at WWDC 2024, including Personalised Spatial Audio and Siri Interactions. All these features are set to be released later this year.

Alongside some interesting upgrades to its software across all devices, Apple has announced new features for the AirPods, which are set to launch later this year. One of the notable features coming to the audio wearables is Siri Interactions, which now offers gesture controls. With this feature, AirPods Pro users will be able to answer Siri with a head nod or shake, indicating yes or no. It will be useful in noisy or calm environments where people cannot speak loud.

The new Siri Interactions, powered by machine learning on the H2 chip, will also enable customers to take or reject calls, respond to messages, manage notifications, and much more without uttering a word. Let's take a quick look at other features.

Voice Isolation

AirPods Pro (2nd version) will soon have access to the Voice Isolation function, which is currently available on Mac, iPhone, and iPad. It eliminates background noise and isolates and improves the caller's voice using machine learning. It runs on an H2 chip and is compatible with iPhones, iPads, or Macs.

Personalised Spatial Audio

From this fall, AirPods (3rd generation), AirPods Pro, and AirPods Max users will be able to enjoy gaming with personalised spatial audio with dynamic head tracking. With this, gamers will experience less audio latency while using AirPods Pro. Moreover, AirPods Pro users will have the advantage of enhanced voice quality, which includes 16-bit, and 48kHz audio. Apple announced during the keynote that Need for Speed No Limits would be the first game to have the functionality. The company also said 'To make it easier to implement the most immersive listening experience for games with advanced sound design, a developer API is now available.'
