Apple has launched the most affordable iPad of its ‘iPad Family’ with a 10.2-inch Retina Display, Apple Pencil and smart keyboard support, and the new iPadOS. A refresh of the 9.7-inch iPad, the USP of this device is that it is made of 100 per cent recycled aluminium. The launch of this iPad comes as a surprise because, generally, the Cupertino-based company launches the iPads in October. 

A pretty basic device, the 7th-generation iPad will be offered with an option of choosing from silver, space gray and gold colours. The iPad starts at Rs 29,900 for the Wi-Fi model and the Wi-Fi + Cellular model can be purchased for Rs 40,900. Those interested can order the device and it will hit the stores on September 30.

The new iPad sports a 10.2-inch Retina display that has nearly 3.5 million pixels. Under the hood, it is equipped with A10 Fusion chip coupled with 32GB and 128GB onboard storage, and an undisclosed RAM. The latest iPad sports an older design with thick bezels and a Touch ID. As mentioned, it is compatible with a smart keyboard, which means that it in at par with the entry-level laptops. 

If you are into graphics and designing, the Apple pencil support will be a welcome feature. Apple Pencil (1st generation) is available for purchase separately for Rs 8,500. The latest iPad will come pre-installed with iPadOS that was unveiled at Apple’s this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). Apple has also announced that Polyurethane Smart Covers will be available in charcoal grey, white, pink sand and a new Alaskan blue colours.
