In a much-anticipated event of the year, Apple will launch the next generation of iPhones today. Likely to be called the iPhone 11 (or iPhone XI), the handsets will be unveiled at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino. The company is expected to launch iPhone 11 -- the successor to last year’s affordable model iPhone XR, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone Max. Apart from the phones, the company will officially roll out iOS 13, Apple Watch Series 5 and a 16-inch Macbook Pro. The pre-orders for the iPhone 11 Series will reportedly start from September 13, and they might be available on September 20.

Where to watch the iPhone 11 launch event

As mentioned, the event will start at 10.30pm IST, and this will be the first time that Apple will be streaming the launch on YouTube. People can also watch the proceedings on Apple website as well as on Apple TV. For people on the go, the official live stream will also be available on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch running iOS 10 or above. People using a Mac computer with Safari browser, and Windows users with Edge browser can also follow the livestream. The event can also be followed on Twitter.

What to expect?

iPhone 11: Apple is expected to launch three iPhones. The first one, likely to be named iPhone 11, is expected to sport a 6.1 LCD panel with a resolution of 1792 x 828 pixels. The smartphone is said to feature Face ID, and will be powered by an A13 (or A13 Bionic) chipset with 3GB or 4GB RAM. It may be offered in three storage variants: 64GB, 256GB and 512GB. The camera is likely to get an upgrade, and instead of a single camera like in last year’s device, the handset may feature a dual-camera setup (12MP+12MP) on the back. It may start at a price of $749 (approx Rs 54,000).

iPhone 11 Pro: This is said to be the successor of the iPhone XS, and is likely to feature a 5.8-inch OLED display that may offer a resolution of 2436 x 1125 pixels. As usual, the phone will feature Face ID and Haptic Touch. Under the hood, it will have the A13 chipset, coupled with 4GB RAM. Some reports have claimed that Apple may offer up to 6GB RAM in this year’s phones. The device will apparently be available in 128GB, 256GB and 512GB storage. Since Apple had already joined the dual-camera bandwagon, this year, Tim Cook-lead company is said to feature three 12MP cameras on the back. As for the price, we may see it carrying a price tag of $999 (approx Rs 72,000).

iPhone 11 Max: Largest of the three device, the iPhone 11 Max may come featuring a 6.5-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2,688 x 1,242 pixels. The phone will be powered by an A13 chip which may be paired with up to 6GB of RAM, and 128GB, 256GB or 512GB storage. The phone is likely to sport the same camera setup as the iPhone 11 Pro, however, due to a large display, it will sport a bigger battery. The iPhone 11 Max is believed to start at $1,099, which is approximately Rs 79,000.

Apple Watch Series 5 and MacBook Pro: Apple may also launch an upgrade to its Apple Watch. Last year, the company added ECG to the watch, and this year, the company may add Sleep Tracking feature as well. Additionally, the wearable is expected to have an upgrade under the hood with a new S5 chipset. We may see it in multiple sizes, and Apple may also launch new straps in different materials, styles and colours. Further, rumours were rife that Apple is working on a 16-inch variant of MacBook Pro laptops. While its is highly unlikely that the company will launch a laptop at this event, but it may touch upon the developments in that area.
