The BLU-100 are a very capable Bluetooth-enabled in-ear phones, which provide decent sound, cancels outside noise and comes with an affordable price tag. With these perks, this could be a must-buy gadget.
Not many will be familiar with the brand, Brainwavz, as it is a fairly new brand in the world of earphones. They recently launched the BLU-100 in-ear Bluetooth 4.0 earphones and we just had to get our hands on them and find out how these in-ear plugs functioned. Now the music to many people’s ear would be its affordable price, Rs. 2,799, but, we find out whether this wireless gadget actually lets you want to be rid of wires.
The materials used in BLU-100 are top-notch, like the plastic and metal. A thin weightless flat strap is attached to both the ear pods and goes behind the neck. It also comes with three different sizes of silicone tips for the earbud and the correct size ensures flawless surround sound. The right ear pod has a rubber flap, which covers a Micro USB slot, and this lets you charge this Bluetooth enabled earphones. It took us two-and-a-half hours to fully charge the device.
There is a three-button remote control with the phones. The (+) and (-) buttons control the volume and you can change the track, if the buttons are pressed for 3 seconds. The middle button can be used to take or end phone calls and if you press it twice quickly then it re-dials the last number. It is also the power button. On the other side of the remote, there is an LED light, which indicates whether charging is complete or not.
The BLU-100 earphones are powered by 8mm drivers with a frequency response of 20 – 20,000Hz and it can be paired with two devices at same time. It was time to play some good music, and the BLU-100 didn’t disappoint us with its clarity. Each note and beat could be heard clearly. Increase the volume and there is absolutely no distortion. The stereo sound is average as it doesn’t identify variation of music notes as crisply as we would have liked. What was impressive was the depth and range it provides in mid and low levels.
Personally, I am a big fan of big booming bass punch and the BLU-100 does an okay job when you are listening to rock, pop and rap, but it is a complete different machine when you crank up some EDM. With so much additional bass already added in EDM, the bass thump can be felt, but otherwise it’s fairly average.
The BLU-100 is a very good buy for what it offers. The sound quality as a whole is impressive and Brainwavz hasn’t taken any short cuts when it comes to build quality either. It is convenient to use and easy to pair with your device. The distance range is not exceptional as the sound starts to get all patchy once you are 10 metres away, but then the main idea for these ear plugs is that your phone or music device is in your pocket rather than lying in the other part of the house. The BLU-100 is surely a value for money product.
