Budget-friendly Nokia 2 launched in India

Aiming so strengthen foothold in the highly competitive sub-Rs 10,000 smartphone market in India, HMD-Global owned Nokia today launched Nokia 2 phone.

If we can recall, Nokia phone were associated with great battery life and joining the same trend the main USP of Nokia 2 is its 4,100mAh battery that the company claims will run for two full days. Encased in a 6000 series aluminum body, Nokia 2 features 5-inch HD LTPS display with a 1:1300 contrast ratio, and comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on the screen.

“India is truly a home for Nokia and we have seen maximum engagement from the country in the past couple of months,” Florian Seiche, President & Acting CEO, HMD Global, told at the press briefing here.

Nokia 2 sports an 8MP rear camera featuring automatic scene detection and auto-focus, and a 5MP front camera. The smartphone runs on Android Nougat and has Google Assistant, which HMD boasts is the only phone in the segment with an AI-based assistant.  It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 processor paired up with 1GB of RAM.

The Nokia 2 will get monthly security updates to make your smartphone is safe and up-to-date and will also be updated to Android Oreo later this year, the company said.

The Nokia 2 will be available in pewter/black, pewter/white and copper/black at a price of approximately Rs 7,500 (€99), starting from mid-November onwards.

Additionally, Nokia 2 comes with 8GB of inbuilt storage, which is expandable up to 128Gb via microSD. Other connectivity options include hybrid dual-SIM configuration, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS/ A-GPS, FM radio with RDS, Micro-USB, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
