Don’t be fooled by the Creative Sound Blaster Roar 2’s size, this can really shake up a room with good quality audio even at full volume.

The Creative Sound Blaster Roar 2, as its name suggests, is the second iteration of this portable Bluetooth speaker. One of the significant changes here is the incorporation of two woofers on the sides of the unit. The Creative Sound Blaster Roar 2 like its predecessor and continues to be well built and feels quiet solid. And while it does feel a little heavy, Creative has actually worked to make this evolutionary unit lighter.

And we are happy to report that the Sound Blaster 2 is not just a good looking and handy device, but it is also extremely functional thanks to a multitude of playback options which include Bluetooth, SD card, USB, micro USB and an AUX port giving you a variety of ways to play your music off the portable speaker. Although when we were testing, while everything else worked just fine, our test unit of the SB Roar 2 simply refused to play music off a USB stick.

Creative Sound Blaster Roar 2 Review

That aside, the USB port can be conveniently used to charge your mobile phone as well, since the Sound Blaster Roar 2 can also be used as a power bank thanks to its 6,000mAH battery. The Creative Sound Blaster itself can be charged via an adapter hooked to a DC port. Unfortunately, there is no option to charge the portable speaker off a USB port, as this would have been a very convenient feature to have while on road trips and such. Other downsides include a relatively short battery life of around 7 hours and the fact that it refused to play music off a laptop as the sound kept getting distorted.

Nevertheless, where the Creative Sound Blaster 2 more than makes up is in terms of performance as the speaker is very easy to connect to your mobile device and from there on it’s a breeze to use the system as it can receive phone calls too, made possible by an in-built microphone.

Sound quality of the Sound Blaster is pretty good and the unit has good bass. As a result, the sound output is clean even at full volume, although there still room for improvement in clarity. This little speaker can literally shake up a huge room, thanks to that Roar button which really cranks up the performance.
