Google has announced that it has acquired AppSheet, a no-code application development platform that allows users to create mobile, tablet, and web applications using cloud-based spreadsheet and database platforms like Google Drive, DropBox and Office 365. This acquisition will help citizen developers build with greater speed & efficiency, and extend applications without the need for professional coding skills.

The platform had the highest score possible in the commercial model criterion and it shows in a stellar experience along with strong features for mobile app development, data design, application scaling, and documentation generation,’ ‘The Forrester Wave: Low-Code Platforms For Business Developers,’ Q2 2019, had said about the platform.
AppSheet will complement Google Cloud’s strategy to boost the application development space, thanks to the AppSheet’s ability to power a range of applications — from CRM to field inspections and personalised reporting. This ability combined with Google Cloud’s expertise in key verticals is likely to enable digital transformation across all industries. With this acquisition, citizen developers will be able to develop applications by leveraging Google Sheets, Forms, Android, Maps and Google Analytics.
In addition, AppSheet will let its customers to continue to integrate with data sources, including Salesforce, Dropbox, AWS DynamoDB and MySQL. According to AppSheet CEO, Praveen Seshadri, this integration will the company deliver a better platform for its customers and reach and empower many more users.
