While Google came a little late to the music streaming industry, however, the search giant has been working hard to put up a tough competition for rivals such as Spotify and Apple Music. Recently introduced YouTube Music is now turning out to be its best music streaming app and is all set to replace Google Play Music. According to a report inn Bloomberg, Google’s music subscription service has crossed 15 million users globally combining both Google Play Music and YouTube Music users.

The numbers also cover users who are using these services on a promotional basis. With over 100 million global subscribers, Spotify is leading the industry, followed by Apple that has over 50 million users on its Apple Music service. The 15 million users gained by Google looks minute compared to its rivals, but still represents signs of good growth.

Earlier Google revealed that YouTube Music and Premium grew 60 per cent between March 2018 and March 2019. YouTube Music which was announced recently in India has garnered over five million subscribers till now.

Coming to the Indian market, YouTube Music faces tough competition not only from Apple and Spotify but also from domestic players such as Airtel, JioSaavn among others.

The YouTube music is free of cost for a month. however, consumers can opt ad-free YouTube Music Premium that costs Rs 99 per month.
