With the new features, the Google Maps will now not only show you directions and navigate but will also let you explore and get things done at home. It’s also a powerful travel companion.

For long, Google is working hard to make its Maps app as the one stop destination for all your travel related information. The search giant has updated the Google Maps with new features designed to simplify your travel.

Now, you can use Google Maps to see all of your flight and hotel reservations in one place. Simply tap on the three grey lines at the top left corner of your screen, and then on ‘Your Places.’ Then, click on the ‘Reservations tab where you’ll see a list of your upcoming trips. Selecting your trip will instantly pull up your reservations, and you can even access them if you’re offline, so no need to worry if you are traveling internationally without a data plan.

For people whole love to explore street on foot, Google has introduced a beta feature called Live View, where you can use augmented reality (AR) to better see which way to walk. Arrows and directions are placed in the real world to guide your way. Google says it has tested Live View with the Local Guides and Pixel community over the past few months, and has now expanded the beta to Android and iOS devices that support ARCore and ARKit.

The company has also introduced ‘Your Match’ that allows you to quickly find restaurants tailored to your tastes. With Your Match, you can see how long the wait is, and even book a reservation without ever leaving the app. The feature shows when a restaurant is most crowded, book a table, and find the most popular dishes.

And if you’ve chosen to turn your Location History setting on, the updated version of Timeline now tells you where you find dined at earlier. You’ll also be able to see all of the places you went to in a country or a city, to the categories of places you visited – including restaurants, shops, attractions, hotels and airports.

The flight and hotel reservations, Live View (in countries where Street View is available), and the new Timeline on your phones will be available in the coming weeks.
