Hike - a joint venture between Bharti Enterprises and SoftBank Corp - is handling over 10 billion messages and three billion stickers per month.

Home-bred messaging platform Hike Messenger today introduced new social features including group chats, vote, bill split, checklists and to schedule events with reminders – all with the ease of single click.

“Vote” feature comes handy if you are confused where to throw a surprise birthday party for your friend or choosing a movie to watch. With “Vote” one can easily create a poll within the group chat with the Vote microapp making it easier to express opinions and preferences with just a simple tap.

And as throwing a party is no easy task with so many things to do for everyone, the app now allows you to create a “Checklist” to make sure nothing is missed out. The inbuilt calendar lets you set the date on events and reminders.

Up till now you had to rely on third party apps like Walnut to split the bill among group, but now with ‘Bill Split’ feature Hike users can share bills with their, calculate everyone’s share and receive money via Hike Wallet.

“Our new features will make sharing much easier within the group and raise the fun and productivity quotient. We believe that this could be a key driver for groups to come together and do much more in the online world,” said Vishwanath Ramarao, CTO, Hike Messenger.

Last month, Hike partnered with Airtel Payments Bank for its Hike Wallet service. The wallet is integrated with Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and allows users to perform bank-to-bank transfers. The transfer can be carried out even if the recipient isn’t on Hike Messenger.
