In the age of expensive lightweight laptops, the iBall Excelance CompBook comes as a breather by being an affordable and capable netbook that offers all the functionality you need.
If you had to lay down all the different laptops available on the market today in a line it would probably be a couple of kilometers long. But then when you actually go out to buy one it comes to a point where all the affordable ones have no software on them, the mid range ones are too heavy to carry, and well, the ones you want come with sky rocketing prices.
iBall comes to the rescue with its cute little Excelance CompBook priced at Rs.9,999 and a light weight of just under 1.1kg. First impressions will be that it’s a really sleek piece of computing with an 11.6 inch HD screen and a very slim body that packs in a Quad Core 1.83 GHz Intel Atom processor and 2GB of RAM. The internal hard drive is a 32GB unit which can be expanded to 64GB via the Micro SB slot. The netbook also has two USB ports, although they are a little tight and can require some effort in pulling out pen drives.
While using the iBall Excelance CompBook the single biggest USP that impressed was its light weight and compact dimensions that make it so easy to move the netbook around. Getting up from a beanbag with the Excelance in hand is no problem at all. And since it’s so light you can rest it on your chest as well sometimes when you are using it in bed. Apart from work I also used it to watch movies in bed, again because of its versatile nature. However, I do have a complaint here as the Excelance CompBook falls short of processing power when you are watching movies in HD print sometimes as the frame kept getting stuck from time to time. So it probably needs more computing power to run heavier programs and video print. Apart from that, sound quality from the speakers was decent and the long battery life ensures you can exploit its portable nature to the best.
