LG’s X Boom Cube OM4560 is styled like an old school boom box with funky styling to make it appeal to today’s youth.

Personal portable music devices have rendered the old school boom box useless as you can now carry your music around in your pocket. But the LG X Boom Cube OM4560 isn’t exactly a boom box as you can’t carry it around since it’s a little too big for that and also it does not come with batteries, meaning the system has to be plugged into a power source all the time. So it isn’t exactly portable.

Worry not though as the LG X Boom Cube as it turns out is a perfect party tool. With its funky design, multi-colour lights inside the speaker, Bluetooth connectivity for up to three phones and a remote control combined with rather decent sound quality make this quite a useful device for house parties. Turning up the volume is never a worry as sound quality always remains clear and undisturbed.

You can load up a pen drive with your music and stick it into the slot making it very easy and quick to play your music. There are different sound modes to choose from to go with different kinds of music. Just keep the remote handy and this is a very convenient system to use so long as your music is loaded onto the system via a CD or pen drive. Of course you can play music from your phone as well but it’s quite the task to connect multiple devices to the system and you can’t change tracks from the remote then, only from your phone.

That aside, there are some rather cool features that come with this system. There is an Auto DJ mode which seamlessly blends tracks, you can even record music from a CD onto a pen drive while playing music.

The LG X Boom Cube also has radio connectivity but you first need to fix the antenna at a good spot to receive a clear signal. Once this is done it’s quite nice to tune into your favourite local station on air when you are bored of your own music.

Leaving all the convenience features aside, one of my favourite things about the system were the multi-colour lights in the speaker assembly which goes very well in a dark room while grooving to your favourite tunes, lending a very night club kind of ambiance.

The there is the Karaoke feature which allows you to have a nice night of karaoke right in your own home. Of course depending on your acoustic skills you can convert this into quite the torture session if you aren’t too fond of your neighbor but that’s another story.

In conclusion I really have to say that the LG X Boom Cube is a very neat system that looks great, has good sound quality, comes with a bunch of useful features and isn’t a delicate unit. Which means you can enjoy that party without worrying about people knocking it over or spilling anything on it.
