Meta has updated its Ray-Ban smart glasses with a new feature that enables users to place hands-free video calls through WhatsApp and Messenger, elevating users' experiences by letting them share their point-of-view with the other person on the call. Powered by Meta AI, the smart glasses feature an ultra-wide 12-megapixel sensor and integrated audio. Using these, users can not only click pictures, record videos or make calls but also listen to music and perform everyday activities like cooking and grocery shopping. Unfortunately, these Meta smart glasses are not available in India at the moment. Only users in more than 15 countries, including the US, Canada, Australia, and Europe, will benefit from this nifty feature.

Besides its ability to make WhatsApp video calls, the Ray-Ban smart glasses offer multimodal features through Meta AI to users in the US and Canada. With Meta AI, users can get assistance with visual searches, translations, and reading texts. In addition, the glasses offer access to real-time information through voice commands. While technology is still in Beta, Meta is working toward bringing more of the multimodal features to people.

The Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses collection features a range of new style options, including Skyler frames, and a low-bridge option for the Headliner frames. Moreover, users can customise them with more than 100 different frames and lens combinations through the Ray-Ban Remix platform. What's more, Meta has also announced a limited-edition version of the Ray-Ban Meta glasses – Scuderia Limited Edition. Meta says the exclusive Scuderia Ferrari colourway will bring "together the legacy of Ferrari, timeless Ray-Ban design and cutting-edge tech from Meta". Sales for this edition will commence on April 24 in select markets. Price-wise, the Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses range from $ 299 (roughly Rs 25,000).

Meta AI with Llama 3 Launched

In other news, Meta recently launched an updated version of Meta AI (Artificial Intelligence). Based on the company's "state-of-the-art" Llama 3 AI model, the latest version of Meta AI is said to be the "most intelligent AI assistant". With this upgraded version, users can now leverage the strength of Meta AI to help make "life easier", whether it's about finding a restaurant, planning a trip, or replying to queries. Plus, Meta is "making image generation faster" in Meta AI. So, users can produce high-quality images and animations based on text descriptions in real time.
