The Mi Smart Band 5 from Xiaomi features a 1.1-inch coloured AMOLED touchscreen display. The screen flaunts 126x294 pixel resolution, 450 nits brightness, and 16-bit colour. In comparison to the Mi Smart Band 4, the latest smart band offers 20 percent more display area. Further, the display has a one-touch button to wake up and return.
The Mi Smart Band 5 offers a battery life of 14 days in the regular mode and 21 days in power saving mode, which is extremely impressively for a small fitness tracker. The Chinese tech giant has also used magnetic pins at the back for eradicating the process of removing the capsule from the strap for charging. It is noteworthy that the total charging time of the device is less than 2 hours.
One of the biggest upgrades in the Mi Smart Band 5 is the addition of the 5 new sports mode, making it a total of 11 professional sports modes. This includes walking, running, indoor running, indoor swimming, indoor riding, riding, yoga, free exercise, rowing machine, rope skipping, and elliptical machine. Another important upgrade that was requested has been incorporated is the 24-hour sleep tracking.
The other features of the Mi Smart Band 5 include resting heart rate, 24x7 heart rate monitoring, light sleep, deep sleep, stress monitoring, REM (rapid eye movement), guided breathing exercise, calorie count, goal setting, and step count. It also shows a PAI score (Personal Activity Intelligence), which informs you how active you need to be to stay healthy. The smart device has also been made to track a women’s health including the fertility cycle and menstrual cycle. However, the Mi Smart Band 5 doesn’t support NFC or include a SpO2 sensor.
Further, the device is water-resistant up to 50 meters/ 5ATM and has a remote camera shutter button in addition to the music playback controls. Most of the previous features like the customized watch faces, weather forecast, alarm, notifications for calls and messages, and remote shutter and the like remain untouched.
The Mi Smart Band 5 is available for ₹2,499 in India. The device comes with 5 different strap colour options - navy blue, purple, teal, black, and orange. It will be available on Amazon.in and Mi.com from October 1. The device will soon after be available in retail stores and Mi Home stores.
