It’s hard to believe but it’s been 27 years since Mortal Kombat made its debut, successfully beating the competition to pulp. Over the years, it has become the most successful fighting game series not only because of its bone crushing moves and gory scenes but also its attention to details. Now, coming to Mortal Kombat 11, it has quite an engaging storyline, which says a lot about a game of a genre like this.

In Mortal Kombat 9, Raiden decided to tinker with the timeline to save lives, but actions have consequences. And it comes in MK 11 in form of the time keeper Kronika. She wants to change time and remove Raiden from the history. So, it’s chaos time, and this is where the game thrives. The evil Kronika needs her sidekicks to fight for her, therefore, she reintroduces the crew from Mortal Kombat 2. As confusing as this may sound, this goulash of past and present characters fighting each other makes things a lot more interesting.

Mortal Kombat 11 Review

In MK 11, each character has his or her unique fighting style and, of course, the awesomely gory fatality finishing moves. I’ve often wondered if the developers have a team just to come with ideas for fatality finishes! Unlike the Mortal Kombat X, this new one doesn’t rush you into combat. You get time to plan your attacks instead of engaging with your opponents all guns blazing.

MK 11 offers customization option, something borrowed from Injustice 2. At first it sounded amazing to us, but the problem is that the items can be unlocked and obtained through the Towers of Time and the Krypt. The loot is randomly hidden in the Krypt, which is a dungeon, and you end up opening chests filled with a lot junk that adds to your frustration.

A heads up to all gamers – the MK 11 needs to be connected online all the time, otherwise you miss out on valuable points and won’t be able to play modes like King of Hill. The connection mostly stays intact, but at times the servers randomly shut, leaving you wanting to punch someone.

Mortal Kombat 11 is one of the best fight games out there, especially because of its engaging storyline, gameplay, new insane moves and, of course, gory graphics. The game stays true to its core and offers an engaging gameplay experience.

Pros
