Ending rumours around a new device, HMD Global has officially launched Nokia 6 (2018) – the company’s first smartphone for 2018 – in China. While the Indian launch is yet to be announced, Nokia 6 will be up for sale soon after its availability in the Chinese market.

Chinese consumers can pre-order the device on Suning; the sale will commence on January 10. The 32GB Nokia 6 (2018) variant is priced at CNY 1,499 (approx. Rs. 14,600), and the 64GB variant costs CNY 1,699 (approx. Rs. 16,600). Both variants will come in black and silver colours.

Nokia 6 (2018) is a successor to last year’s Nokia 6 smartphone that was launched in January with a front-facing fingerprint scanner. In the 2018 edition, the fingerprint scanner has been moved to the back. Dropping capacitive keys that was available on the previous Nokia 6, the company has greeted users with an on-screen navigation to give users stock Android UI.

Unlike the previous version, the Nokia 6 (2018) now comes in a metal unibody constructed from 6000 series aluminium. The dual-SIM (Nano) Nokia 6 (2018) runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box with an assured Android 8.0 Oreo update in near future. It features a 5.5-inch IPS display with a full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone is armed with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor accompanied by 4GB of RAM. The device offers expandable storage of up to 128GB via micro-SD card.

For photographers, Nokia 6 (2018) sports 16MP rear camera sensor with dual-tone LED flash, PDAF and f/2.0 aperture and 8MP front camera with f/2.0, 84-degree wide-angle lens. The smartphone also supports the company's proprietary ‘Bothie’ feature that allows users to click simultaneous shots from the rear and front camera.

Additionally, a 3000mAh battery with fast charging technology fuels the device.

Nokia which now operates through HMD Global completed one year on December 1, 2017. In just 12 months, the company has made 12 major announcements including the introduction of eleven new devices and global partnerships with industry heavyweights such as ZEISS.
