In the latest development, two Chinese smartphone makers -- Oppo and Vivo -- are planning to launch 90Hz refresh rates phones in the coming months. Senior officials at both the company have confirmed ....

In the next couple of months, OnePlus 7 Pro won’t be the only phone with the 90Hz refresh rate as other brands such as Oppo and Realme are looking to join the same bandwagon. Officials at the Oppo and Realme have announced that they will soon launch phones with the 90Hz refresh rate.

Earlier this month, OPPO’s Vice President, Brian Shen shared a few details of the new Reno phone at the Chinese social media platform Weibo. The upcoming Reno phone is also rumoured to be the successor to the Reno 10x Zoom.

While the Weibo post doesn’t reveal much of the details, however, the context of conversation hints that Shen is referring to a 90Hz screen phone. Another part of the post claims that the upcoming Reno 2 won’t come with the 120W fast charge.

On the other hand, the information about a new 90Hz refresh rate from Realme is more specific. Realme’s Product Manager, Wang Wei Derek on Weibo shared that the upcoming Realme phone will not only have a 90Hz refresh rate scree but will also be priced less than the OnePlus 7 Pro.  The phone is expected to be Realme XT.

In addition to a high refresh rate, the Realme XT is rumoured to come with a 32MP selfie camera, a 64MP primary rear camera, an 8MP telephoto camera, a 2MP macro lens and a 2MP depth camera. The smartphone will come with 30W fast charging, an in-display fingerprint scanner, NFC and a 4,000mAh battery.

While it’s good to see, phones coming with a 90Hz refresh rate display, however, it serves a limited purpose. Such a high refresh rate is majorly useful in gaming where a smooth gameplay is expected from a device or while scrolling through the user interface. However, the 90Hz refresh rate results in quick battery depletion.
