Panasonic's rugged 2-in-1 'Toughbook CF-33' launched at Rs 2,70,000

Japanese major Panasonic today unveiled the world’s first 3:2 aspect ratio, 12-inch 2-in-1 fully rugged detachable Toughbook CF-33 in India. The device is ideal for industries including police, emergency services, government agencies, defense, field service workers, maintenance and service technicians in the utilities and telecommunications and will be available at a price of Rs 2,70,000 (taxes extra).

Panasonic Toughpad includes a series of rugged tablet computers certified to meet the IP65 and MIL-STD-810G specifications for drops (up to four feet), shock, vibration, altitude, humidity, extreme temperatures and are used in fields like construction, defence, public safety, emergency services, government, healthcare and law enforcement, etc.

Panasonic Toughpad’s currently hold a  65 per cent market share here in the country, and with the introduction of new products in the Toughbook and Toughpad series, we aim to increase our market share to over 70 per cent,” Gunjan Sachdev, Business Head, Toughbook and Toughpad Division, told reporters at the new Toughbook CF-33 launch in the Gurugram.

The Toughbook CF-33 with Windows 10 Pro comes with Intel i5-7300U, 8GB RAM (project options 4GB and 16GB) and 256GB SSD (project option 128GB and 512GB). The Toughbook CF-33 has QHD screen having a resolution of 2160 x 1440 pixels and includes an IP55 digitiser pen.

The Toughbook CF-33 is equipped with 2MP webcam with stereo microphones and 8MP documentation rear camera so users can easily capture and share images with other workers in the field.  It also has a rich set of business interfaces with additional customisable options for the tablet that include USB 3.0, HDMI, LAN, micro SD-XC and headset ports. On the keyboard dock there are 2x USB 3.0, USB 2.0, LAN, Serial, HDMI, SD-XC and VGA ports.

Additional tablet configuration options include second USB 2.0 port, serial, barcode reader, smartcard reader, contactless smart card reader and fingerprint reader.  The screen can easily be flipped around taken off and reattached which keeps it functioning in unfavorable conditions.

The rugged laptop also comes with twin hot swappable batteries to provide the user with the ability to extend the battery life for mobile workers with limited access to power. The additional battery come at a price of Rs 30,000 and is sold separately.

Toughpads are one of the successful products from Panasonic in India and the company has earlier supplied 3,500 Toughpads to the Uttar Pradesh police. The devices are installed in survellience vehicles to keep the security personnel updated and connected with the control room.
