Realme has launched the Realme X50 Pro 5G -- the first smartphone in India to support the fifth generation of cellular networks. The device comes with flagship internals, including the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset, a 90Hz display, and 64MP quad rear camera setup. It is also the first smartphone with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 to be available in India. While Samsung has already launched the Galaxy S20 Series with 5G connectivity, the country still awaits an official launch event. Further, IQOO 3 will also launch on February 25 in India.
The launch of the phone, which was scheduled for MWC 2020, was accompanied by a short segment where the company CEO Madhav Sheth outlined the company’s vision for India. He mentioned that the company would launch Realme TV, may be in the second quarter of the year, and Realme Band.
The Realme X50 Pro 5G’s base variant with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage is priced at Rs 37,999. The 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant costs Rs 39,999 and customers can purchase the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant for Rs 44,999. It comes in Moss Green and Rusty Red colours, and will go on sale at 6 pm today on Flipkart and realme.com.
The Realme X50 Pro 5G features a 6.44-inch full-HD+ Super AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 90Hz. The display is protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 5, and the phone features a screen-to-body ratio of 90 per cent. The company says that the X50 Pro 5G has ‘Smart 5G’, which allows the phone to switch between 4G and 5G networks. Under the hood, the phone has an octa-core Snapdragon 865 mobile platform which is paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB UFS 3.0 storage. Realme says that the UFS 3.0 storage comes with Turbo write technology that transfers files with greater speeds as compared to vanilla UFS 3.0 storage.
As mentioned, the Realme X50 Pro 5G ships with a quad camera setup on the back. The module consists a 64MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture lens, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle and macro sensor with an aperture of f/2.3 and a 119-degree field-of-view, a 12MP sensor with telephoto lens that can 20x zoom, and a 2MP black and white portrait sensor.
