Redmi 8 and Redmi 8A are the next smartphone offerings from Xiaomi spin-off brand, and it seems that they will debut soon. After passing Chinese certification website TENAA and US regulatory body FCC, the phones have been spotted on Thailand’s certification platform National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) that inspects devices regarding radio transmissions. The listings were first spotted and shared by a tipster on Twitter.
As per the listings, Redmi 8 has M1908C3IG and the Redmi 8A has M1908C3KG model number. Interestingly, the phones with same model numbers were spotted on TENAA and FCC websites. The latest listings do not reveal the specifications of the phones, but reports suggest that both the phones will sport HD+ displays. It is possible that these phones are launched in China before making a debut in India.
The Redmi 8 will reportedly sport 6.1-inch display with waterdrop notch. The type of display is not known, but speculations are rife that it may feature an LCD panel. There is no info on the chipset, and the phone is expected to come in two variants: 3GB RAM + 32GB storage and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage. When it comes to optics, the phone will allegedly sport a rear quad camera setup. The fingerprint sensor is expected to be on the back panel.
The Redmi 8A, meanwhile, is suggested to feature 6.217-inch HD+ TFT display with 720 x 1520 pixels resolution. Under the hood, it is tipped to come with an octa-core SoC, and will be offered with up to 4GB RAM and up to 64GB storage. In the camera department, it could come equipped with dual rear camera setup with a 12MP primary sensor. On the front, there could be an 8MP camera.
