In the last couple of days, a number of rumours have been surfacing on the internet for the Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship Redmi 5. While earlier rumours suggested full metal body, changes in camera, a new report in China’s microblogging website Weibo has leaked images of the new device along with the prices.

Xiaomi Redmi 5 is expected to come in two variants. While one will be powered by 2GHz Snapdragon 625 with 3GB of RAM, other is rumoured to house 2.2GHz Snapdragon 630 paired up with 4GB of RAM. Storage will be 16GB/32GB for the 3GB model and 64GB for the 4GB variant.

The 3GB/16GB version is expected to come at $126, 3GB RAM / 32GB model will cost $153 and the 4GB/64GB variant will be priced at $153.

The device will sport a 5-inch IPS LCD display ,16MP rear camera, 5MP front camera and will be fuelled by 3,680mAh battery, which is a smaller than Redmi 4's 4,100mAh unit.

All the three devices will be launched in India, later this year.

Xiaomi’s performance in the country has been on a growing trajectory and the company’s revenue in the first half of the year is up 328 per cent year-on-year and now stands tall at the second spot in the overall Indian smartphone market.

Redmi Note 4 became the highest shipped smartphone in the country. The company is also witnessing growth in Indonesia, Russia, Ukraine, and a number of other countries.

In the next 12 months, Xiaomi will hire thousands of R&D talents for their smartphone business and to further bolster innovation capabilities.
