With the rising popularity of Virat Kohli, it’s no surprise that Tissot has introduced a limited-edition timepiece in collaboration with the Indian cricket captain.
Tissot’s relationship with sports is an old one, nearly eight decades old. The watchmaker is currently the official timekeeper for a multitude of sports, including MotoGP, FIM Superbike, World Championships of Cycling, and the International Basketball Federation (FIBA). But, they’ve never really associated themselves with cricket, at least not until they signed Virat Kohli as their brand ambassador.
Virat Kohli’s technique and precision on the field has only improved over time, not unlike the way Tissot has developed as a brand over the years. Now, given Tissot’s history of producing special edition watches for sports personalities, it was only a matter of time before they took the next step with a special edition watch for the cricketer. And so comes the Chrono XL Classic Virat Kohli 2018. This special edition watch has a lot of subtle and neat design touches reflecting the cricketer’s personality.
Tissot will only make 3,018 units of this watch. ‘30’ represents the age of the cricket captain, as he celebrates his 30th birthday this year, and ‘18’ represents his jersey number. On the stopwatch, the number 20 has also been replaced by 18 in red – representing the colour of the Swiss flag. The large Arabic numerals give the watch a clean, and yet elegant, look. The silk-printed case-back has Kohli’s navy blue logo and autograph.
This Swiss-made watch has a 45mm case finished in silver, which provides a dramatic contrast to the overall design, given it’s the blue dial and strap. The watch has a quartz chronograph movement, which is known for its precision – much like the cricketer himself.
The Tissot Chrono XL Classic Virat Kohli 2018 is now on sale and is priced at Rs. 24,000.
