Jio TV now becomes the second service to have a Web version. ....

Reliance Jio has launched its Jio TV app for the web version meaning Jio subscribers can now watch different category of channels such as entertainment, movies, kids, sports on desktops, media reported.

With the added ability of browsing over the web, subscribers will be able to view approximately 400 channels (including 60HD channels) over Jio TV in as Hindi, Marathi, Punjabi, Urdu, Bengali, English, Malayalam, Tamil, Gujarati, Odia, Telugu, Bhojpuri, Kannada, Assamese, Nepali, and French.

Jio TV now becomes the second service to have a Web version. One of the main advantages of Jio TV has been the ability to pause/play the channels as per the user’s convenience. Jio TV also lets users watch shows missed in the past seven days.

To use JioTV or JioCinema on the Web, users’ need to login on the respective websites with an authentic Jio ID and password. Users’ need not to be on Jio network to access the Web version and allows users connected to Wi-Fi or other mobile networks to view the channels.

Currently, Reliance Jio's JioTV and JioCinema do not have a standalone app for streaming devices such as Amazon Fire TV Stick, Google Chromecast, or Apple TV.

We believe one of the main reason behind pushing the Web version for JioTV would be live sports. Partners like Hotstar could surely be able uplift their user base as more and more consumers are now preferring to stream live sports on the Web.

On the contrary, JioCinema let users watch any of the listed movies on their PCs and laptops.
