Xiaomi on Wednesday launched Redmi 6, Redmi 6A and Redmi 6 Pro smartphones in India. While Redmi 6 Pro features an AI dual camera and two-day battery life, the Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A come with Helio P22 and Helio A22 chipsets, respectively, both of which bring the 12nm process to a new segment.
The latest Helio P22 octa-core SoC consumes 48 per cent less power as compared to 28nm chipsets. Further, the SoC is paired with a quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 CPU clocked at up to 2.0GHz with an IMG PowerVR GE-class GPU.
The Redmi 6 sports a 5.45-inch 18:9 full-screen display with an HD+ resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels. The smartphone comes with a 12MP + 5MP AI dual camera setup on the rear. The main sensor has 1.25µm large pixels and comes with phase-detection autofocus (PDAF) and Electronic Image Stabilisation (EIS). The 5MP front camera of Redmi 6 is supported by Xiaomi's AI Portrait mode.
The Redmi 6 runs Android Oreo-based MIUI 9.6, which comes with support for full screen gestures.
Redmi 6 comes in two variants -- 3GB + 32GB, priced at Rs 7,999 and 3GB + 64GB variant priced at Rs 9,499 as introductory prices for two months. Redmi 6 will go on sale on mi.com and Flipkart.com starting September 10, 12 p.m. onwards.
The Redmi 6A adopts a similar design language and screen as Redmi 6 - 5.45-inch 18:9 full screen display with an HD+ resolution. The smartphone comes with 13MP rear camera featuring phase detection autofocus with EIS and a 5MP front camera. Redmi 6A runs on MIUI 9.6 on top of Android O which has also been optimised, reducing system apps' memory usage by nearly 30 per cent.
Redmi 6A also features AI face unlock for fast unlocking and like Redmi 5A, the Redmi 6A also features a dedicated micro-SD slot besides a dual SIM slot. In addition, the phone offers dual VoLTE capabilities.
Redmi 6A comes in two variants -- 2GB + 16GB for Rs 5,999 and 2GB + 32GB for Rs 6,999 as introductory prices for two months. Redmi 6A will go on sale on mi.com and Amazon.com on starting September 19, 12 p.m. onwards.
Redmi 6 Pro is a stylish and handy device with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor. With that, it pairs an AI dual camera along with a massive 4000mAh battery to deliver a two-day battery life. There is a 12MP + 5MP AI dual rear camera with a large 1.25μm pixel size and a 5MP front camera.
Redmi 6 Pro comes with MIUI 9.6 based on Android Oreo, with an update to MIUI 10 due in the coming months. It comes in Black, Gold, Blue and Red colours, and in 3GB + 32GB and 4GB + 64GB variants.
Redmi 6 Pro 3GB + 32GB is priced at Rs 10,999 and 4GB + 64GB variant is priced at Rs 12,999. Redmi 6 Pro will go on sale on Mi.com and Amazon.com, starting September 11, 12 p.m. onwards.
