Xiaomi spin-off brand Redmi launched the Redmi 8A last week and the phone will go on sale today at 2 p.m. in India. Successor to the Redmi 7A, the phone competes with the likes of the Realme C2, Samsung Galaxy M10, and other handsets which belong to the same price segment. This is Redmi 8A’s second sale in a week.
The Redmi 8A was launched at a price of Rs 6,499 for the 2GB + 32GB storage variant, and Rs 6,999 for the 3GB RAM + 32GB storage model. The phone will be available in Midnight Black, Ocean Blue, and Sunset Red colour options, and will be up for grabs on mi.com and Flipkart. The smartphone will be available at Mi Home stores from today and will soon be available across all other offline stores. Axis Bank credit cards, Buzz credit cards, and HDFC Bank debit cards users can avail 5 per cent instant discount or cashback on Flipkart.
Redmi 8A’s USP is its huge 5,000mAh battery and 18W fast charging support. The handset features a 6.22-inch Dot Notch HD+ display and offers an aspect ratio of 19:9. During the launch, Xiaomi India Managing Director Manu Kumar Jain said that the smartphone features an Aura Wave Grip design with a fine textured patterns, which makes it easy to handle the phone with one hand. The Redmi 8A comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on the front, and on the back, there is P2i’s nano-coating, which essentially makes the smartphone splash resistant.
Under the hood, the phone is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 chipset. As mentioned the phone is offered in two variants, and the onboard storage can be expanded up to 512GB. In the camera department, the device comes equipped with a 12MP Sony IMX363 sensor with dual-pixel autofocus. The sensor is coupled with a lens having an aperture of f/1.8. On the front is an 8MP selfie camera, and both front and rear cameras are capable of capturing Portrait images.
