In a world where high-end phablets rule the roost, it is heartening to see that there are companies like Zync, who are serious about taking out gadgets at an affordable level.
The Cloud Z605 has a 6.5-inch TFT Capacitive Multi-Touch display, which uses old school technology, and the colours at best can be described as average. Don’t expect a crisp or sharp display and viewing from side angle is not recommended.
One of its stand out feature is that it is 3G enabled, a rare feature in this segment. The Z605 is solid built and the curves on the sides try and give a reasonably premium look like other Android phablets. Unfortunately, it is not the easiest to use because, for some reason, the volume controls, switch on-off button are all placed at the bottom along side the micro USB port and 3.5 mm jack port.
Powered by 1.2 GHz dual core processor and with 512 MB of RAM, the Z605 is perfect for social networking. With such less RAM space and an internal memory of 4GB, it is best to stick to simple games like Subway Surfer or Temple Run 2. Surfing the net is not an issue, even if you open two or three Chrome Brower window tabs. The Android Jelly Bean 4.2 operating system does a fairly decent job.
Zync comes with a modest 2 mega-pixel rear camera without a flash and a 0.3 MP front facing camera. If you plan to take selfies, we suggest you do it where there is a lot of light. Otherwise, it won’t do you any justice. As for the rear camera, it does a reasonable job.
The Zync Cloud Z605 costs Rs 7,990 (MRP on the Zync website), but if you shop online from e-commerce sites like Flipkart or Snapdeal, you will get an excellent discount and it can be yours for as low Rs 5,500. It is a decent phablet for surfing the net, pinging your friends online and has a long battery life. The downside is that both the display and the cameras are quite disappointing.
