The Battery Health menu in the new Apple iPad Pro and iPad Air models provides comprehensive details about the battery's maximum capacity, health, cycle count, and 80% charging limit option.

During its "Let Loose" event earlier this month, Apple unveiled the new iPad Pro and iPad Air with M2 Chip programming. The key update is that the tech giant has introduced a new Battery Health menu for the 2024 generation models. The same feature is found on the iPhone 15 series as well. This menu will display optimum charging options and battery data. Users could control the battery charge percentage to maximise battery life. This setting maintains the battery charge at 80% before reaching 100%. The menu will also display the cycle count. It was initially spotted in the iPadOS 17.5 code.

As per a recent report, the Battery option in the Settings app has a new Battery Health menu. It provides comprehensive details about the battery's maximum capacity, health, cycle count, and 80% charging limit option. Users can also view information regarding the Battery's initial usage date and manufacturing date. The report states that the earlier iPhone models' "Optimised Battery Charging" feature, which simply delays charging past the 80% point, is not the same as the new iPads' 80% charging limit option. The iPad won't charge past 80% with the new limiter option unless it's necessary to "Maintain accurate battery state-of-charge estimates."

With Apple's MacBooks, customers can restrict the maximum charging capacity to 80% with a comparable Battery Health Manager option. Long-term battery health decline may result from MacBook owners leaving their devices plugged in while operating. Apple has started to add similar features to the latest iPads, which are becoming more and more comparable to MacBooks in terms of usage.

Here's How to Access the Battery Health Menu

Users may learn more about the health status, date of manufacturing, initial usage, and cycle count of their iPad battery by going to Settings > Battery > Battery Health. The information will help users to make well-informed decisions regarding battery replacement and maintenance.

Though there is a possibility that further software updates will bring this functionality to older models as well, the emphasis for now is on the most recent models. Meanwhile, customers can place orders for the M2 iPad Air and M4 iPad Pro on Apple's official website.
