Versatile Multi-tasking

The detachable touchscreen interface of the iBall WQ149R makes it an extremely handy device be it at home or while travelling.

Most of us in today’s world work on laptops, and as good as they have become, there is no denying the fact that they have always been heavy and bulky to carry around outside of the workplace. This is where the concept of a netbook comes in handy, with their compact designs and lightweight nature. And iBall’s WQ149R is aimed at making the netbook handier with a touchscreen interface for its detachable screen.

There is no denying the fact that using the iBall WQ149R during my travels was of great convenience as I did not have to lug a heavy laptop on my back. When I needed to use the pre-installed Office Microsoft Office 365, it was always with the whole unit to use the qwerty keyboard. Although, it’s here that you realise the shortcomings of the iBall WQ149R as its 1.83GHz Intel Atom Processor with 2 GB RAM tends to slow down operations when you use multiple programs. At this point, even basic functions such as double clicks and menu selections take time, asking for a fair bit of your patience.

Most of the time though, I found myself using the device as a tablet for leisure and occasionally for work. And at this, the device is brilliant, as the 10.1-inch display panel is easy to carry around the house. Falling easily to hand makes it very useful, be it for your quick Google searches or hunting online for good deals on furniture or streaming music via Bluetooth to your sound system. With a battery backup of around 6 hours, a 32GB hard drive, Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity, this is a very handy device indeed.

To be very honest, I enjoyed using the iBall WQ149R as a tablet the most. But then I also preferred carrying it during outstation trips rather than lugging my laptop around. And for these purposes iBall’s device is just perfect. But when you buy this device for around Rs.17,000, you should bear in mind that this will not be your primary work station but one that will be of convenience to you.
