While the earlier rumours hinted for the Nokia 9.1 PureView launch at the MWC 2020, HMD Global is now reported to focus on a new Nokia 9.2 smartphone, which will have camera sensors from Toshiba.

HMD Global-owned Nokia is planning to launch the Nokia 9.2 smartphone in the first half of 2020. The company was earlier said to be working on the Nokia 9.1 PureView, which was said to succeed the Nokia 9 PureView launched last year. But, it seems like the company has now stopped working on the PureView successor and instead plans to launch the Nokia 9.2.

Nokia 9.2 specs

The Nokia 9.2 will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor and is expected to come with high-end camera sensors, said a report by Nokia Power User. Toshiba is reported to supply camera sensors for the Nokia 9.2. The smartphone is expected to deliver a ‘great camera’ experience to users. Nokia could price the Nokia 9.2 close to the Nokia 8. While the Nokia 8 was priced at Rs 36,999, the smartphone has witnessed a few price drops in the recent past.

Another report by Nokiamob.net further reveals that the Nokia 9.2 could come with a bezel less display, a 32MP or 48MP front camera and will support wireless charging. The phone will not have 3.5mm audio jack support.

Nokia foldable phone

Apart from the Nokia 9.2, the Finnish tech giant is also working on a foldable smartphone which is said to compete with Samsung Galaxy Fold and Motorola Razr. While the company uses MWC platform to showcase new concepts, it’s not yet clear whether the new foldable device will be ready by that time. However, the company could showcase a wearable device at MWC in Barcelona next month.

Earlier this month, Nokia rolled out Android 10 to the Nokia 6.1 Plus, Nokia 7 Plus (Review) and Nokia 6.1. The three smartphone now join the Nokia 7.1 and Nokia 8.1 as the latest smartphones to run Android 10.
