This year with the OnePlus 7 Pro, OnePlus delivered the world's first QHD+ AMOLED 90Hz display. And now OnePlus is planning to introduce first-ever concept phone, the OnePlus Concept One, at CES 2020.

It looks like OnePlus aims to enter 2020 with a bang. While consumers are eagerly waiting for the next OnePlus flagship phone, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau surprised everyone by tweeting a teaser of the company’s presence at CES 2020, where it is expected to reveal the OnePlus Concept One.

OnePlus’ official Weibo page has also confirmed the news of the ‘OnePlus Concept One.’ However, the teaser does not actually mention ‘phone’ anywhere. The text written on the post reads ‘Alternate Design, Alternate Future,’ which does not reveal any exact specifics of the announcement.

Many companies create concept phone that they don’t intend to release, instead use them to showcase lots of the tech, they are working on and its highly likely that OnePlus Concept One won’t be commercially available. As OnePlus now has OnePlus Concept One, Xiaomi had the Mi Mix Alpha, TCL had its Dragonhinge, etc.

However, we’ll have to wait for CES 2020 to know what OnePlus has planned for the OnePlus Concept One.

‘The name itself, Concept One, is a clear promise that this device is only the first in a series to come and shows our commitment to applied, innovative technology - bringing users an ever smoother, faster, and more "burdenless" experience. The OnePlus Concept One, demonstrates a vision of both new technology and alternate design approach for the future of smartphones,’ OnePlus said in a blog post.

The OnePlus Concept One special event will be held from January 7 to 10, 2020, at the Wynn Las Vegas.

Apart from showcasing OnePlus Concept One in 2020, OnePlus may launch new phones – the OnePlus 8 and the OnePlus 8 Pro in the second quarter of 2020. High-quality renderings of the alleged phones are already leaked. OnePlus generally launches its smartphones after MWC.

According to Counterpoint Research, OnePlus has once again emerged as the leader in the Indian premium smartphone category (retail price more than or equal to Rs 30,000) as the segment grew 66 per cent year-over-year (YoY) to reach an all-time record high in the third quarter of 2019.
