Late last year, OnePlus forayed into the tightly-packed television space with the TV Q1 series. The Q1 series of TVs from OnePlus featured a QLED display, which meant that these were not the most affordable televisions in the market. Therefore, in a price-sensitive market like India, the televisions failed to make a dent.

But now, OnePlus has announced that it'll launch affordable TVs in the Indian market, taking the fight to Xiaomi, Vu, and others in the segment. Having officially opened the order books for its affordable TVs last week, OnePlus has launched them in the Indian market tonight.

The new U- and Y-series of affordable OnePlus TVs joins the existing OnePlus TV Q1 series, and, to keep costs in check, these do not feature QLED panels. Where the OnePlus Y-series offers two models – 32-inch with a 1366 x 768 resolution and 43-inch with a 1920 x 1080 resolution – the U-series has only a 55-inch TV with 4K (3840 x 2160) panel.

OnePlus TV U1: Specifications, Features, and Price

The OnePlus TV U1 comes in a single 55-inch 4K version. It comes with 93% DCI-P3 colour gamut support, 95% screen-to-body ratio, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision certification. OnePlus has also included the same Gamma Engine found aboard the Q1 series to offer features like MEMC, dynamic contrast, Super Resolution, and noise reduction.

It comes powered by a quad-core Cortex A53 MediaTek MT5887 processor clocked up to 1.5GHz along with a Mali-G51 MP4 GPU. Moreover, it features 3GB RAM and 16GB onboard storage. The TV runs on Android TV 9.0 out-of-the-box, which means it comes with pre-installed media streaming apps such as Netflix, Prime Video, and Disney+ Hotstar.

In the audio department, it comes equipped with 30W speakers (two full-range speakers and two dedicated tweeters). Moreover, it also gets OnePlus Connect, which enables features like Quick App Switch, TypeSync, trackpad support, smart volume control, and more.

On the connectivity front, it gets 3x HDMI, 1x USB 3.0, 1x USB 2.0, RF port, optical port, Ethernet, and AV port. Lastly, the OnePlus TV U1 comes with a brand-new smart remote control, featuring a D-pad up-top, followed by an array of buttons including the Google Assistant, Netflix, Prime Video, volume rocker, and more.

As far as pricing is concerned, the 55-inch U-series TV will retail at ₹49,999. It will go on sale starting July 5 via Amazon India and will soon be available via retail stores.

OnePlus TV Y-Series: Specifications, Features, and Price

Unlike the U-series, the Y-series consists of an affordable set of smart TVs. Available in two sizes – 32 inches and 43 inches – the Y-series TVs are also powered by a MediaTek processor. However, unlike the U1, these come with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage. Also, both smart TVs run on Android TV 9.0 out-of-the-box, meaning these also support a wide range of streaming apps.

OnePlus TV Y Series 1

Both smart TVs here feature 20W speaker (2x 10W units) with Dolby Audio support. Moreover, just like its bigger sibling, the Y-series, too, gets OnePlus Connect, Quick App Switch, and more. Another difference is that the Y-series gets an older Netflix remote that was launched last year.

The 32-inch variant of the OnePlus TV will set you back by ₹12,999, whereas the 43-inch variant will cost you ₹22,999. These, too, will be available starting July 5 via Amazon India and then via retail stores.
