Almost two years ago, Vivo started the pop-up front camera design with Nex smartphone. The company will probably be the first one to introduce a dual camera setup in the pop-up mechanism along with a separate camera module on the rear. Everyone is waiting for Vivo’s next offering, the Vivo Nex 3 5G smartphone, which will debut on September 16 in China. It’s been a few weeks that the company has been sharing information about the phone, and in the latest development, it has been revealed that the handset will sport a 99.6 per cent screen-to-body ratio.

This claim comes from Li Xiang, Vivo's NEX product manager, who posted an image (cover image) on Chinese social media platform Weibo. He said that this figure has been obtained after applying the industry standard calculation method. He goes on to claim that if other methods of calculation are used to calculate the percentage, the numbers may differ but even ‘then the NEX 3 will have the highest ever ratio.’ The executive also says that the phone will remain ahead of its competitors, and they won’t be able to match the phone’s numbers for ‘half a year.’

When it comes to the specifications of the phone, rumours and leaks till now have suggested that the Vivo NEX 3 will feature a 6.89-inch AMOLED display and in-display fingerprint sensor. However, we still don’t know whether this sensor will be an optical or ultrasonic one. The phone is said to be powered by the Snapdragon Snapdragon 855+ chipset, which could be coupled with up to 12GB RAM, and up to 512GB of storage.

In the camera department, the handset is expected to house a triple rear camera module with a 64MP Samsung’s Bright GW1 sensor. The other two are likely be 13MP sensors with a telephoto and ultra-wide lenses. On the front, the phone could come with 16MP dual-camera setup. The handset will run Android 9 Pie, and house a 4,500 mAh battery with 44W fast charging technology. As far as the price is concerned, the phones may cost users CNY 4,998 (approx Rs 50,000), with CNY 5498 (approx Rs 55,000) for the 5G option.
