While many smartphone companies are exploring the idea of a solar powered smartphone, here, we have an early look at how the Xiaom's solar energy powered smartphone will look like.

According to the media reports, Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has patented a smartphone design that has a solar panel at the back. In July of 2018, Xiaomi filed a patent with the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Office) for a smartphone design with a solar cell module.

As per the sketch, the solar panel at the back is the most noticeable part of the phone covering a large area of the phone’s back. With solar integration, Xiaomi wants to solve the undying issue of a phone’s battery life by offering users a way to charge the device via solar energy.

And while Xiaomi has been granted the patent, there is no official word from the Chinese smartphone maker as to when such a device will be introduced to users. Few other companies have been reported to work on a solar-powered smartphone.

Additionally, the smartphone is expected to come with a no-notch display, pop-up camera, and an in-display fingerprint sensor technology. At the back, there will be a dual-camera setup with vertically placed camera sensors and an LED flash in between both the sensors.

According to Counterpoint Research, with 28 per cent share, Xiaomi still leads the smartphone market in Q2 2019 (Apr-May-Jun-2019) followed by Samsung, Vivo with 25 per cent and 11 per cent market share, respectively.
