Users of the Apple Watch can now ask Siri to play music through Spotify. Spotify, in the latest update to its app, now allows Siri to play music through Spotify. Just say, ‘Hey Siri, play music on Spotify.’

While the update is small, it was long anticipated by Apple Watch users. With the launch of the iOS 13 and watchOS 6 last year, Apple started allowing third-party music apps to integrate with Siri. While Spotify immediately started supporting the feature on iPhones, it took some time to extend the feature to the Apple Watch. Spotify's support for Siri is available on Apple Watches running on watchOS 6, with version 8.5.52 available now on the App Store.

‘We’re always making changes and improvements to Spotify. To make sure you don’t miss a thing, just keep your Updates turned on. Version 1.0 of Spotify via Siri on Apple Watch (watchOS 6+) is available for your enjoyment. Try saying 'Hey Siri, play music on Spotify' or any other voice query of your choice adding 'on Spotify' at the end. Happy try!’ Spotify’s app page said.

Last month, Spotify filed an antitrust complaint against Apple with the European Union. The complaint alleged that Apple is harming consumer choice via rules that the company enforces on the App Store. The complaint further said that the 30 per cent cut Apple takes from subscriptions made via the App Store harms streaming services that compete with Apple’s own – Apple Music.

In late 2020, Apple is planning to launch the Apple Watch Series 6, which is expected to come with a Touch ID fingerprint sensor built in the crown of the watch. The smartwatch might also come with a feature that can detect the oxygen level in your blood.
