It seems like there will be hardly anything left to know by the time Samsung’s Unpacked event for the Galaxy S9 comes alive. We already have an idea about the specs, how it looks like, and now a new media report suggests that users at the event will be able to visualise S9 with the help of augmented reality (AR).

A Reddit user has discovered a hidden feature in the software that will allow users at the Unpacked event visualise the Galaxy S9 in AR by tapping their phone against their event badge. From there, users can toggle between various colours to see how the newest flagship looks like from any angle they want. (Image Credit : XDA Developers)

Earlier rumours suggested that the Samsung’s Galaxy S9 and S9+ smartphones will feature 3D emojis that includes iPhone X like animal characters (Animojis) that can be shared with friends.

“Samsung’s 3D emoji are more powerful and advanced than Apple’s Animoji on the iPhone X, but are almost identical in resembling a 3D character that tracks the facial movements of the user and mimics them,” a report in South Korean publication ETnews has said.

Apart from 3D emoji feature, the Galaxy S9 will also reportedly come with stereo speakers that will be positioned at the top and bottom of the smartphone. Earlier media reports claimed that the S9 and S9+ speakers will feature Dolby Surround tuned by acoustics company Samsung-owned AKG.

Samsung will launch its next flagship smartphones Galaxy S9 and S9+ at the 2018 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, on February 25. Both the devices are expected to sport a variable aperture on their primary 12MP cameras. The variable aperture is more likely a mechanical adjustment that switches between f/2.4 and smallest-in-class f/1.5.

The Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ are also expected to use 0.9um ISOCELL pixel sensor to offer great camera performance with rich detail, vivid colour and accurate focus. The Galaxy S9 may cost between $853 and $923 -- which is cheaper than the Galaxy S8, which had a starting price of $720.

Codenamed Star and Star 2, respectively, the most important difference between the two smartphones is in their configurations – Galaxy S9+ comes with 6GB RAM/128GB internal memory and Galaxy S9 comes with 4GB RAM/64GB internal memory. Apart from this, Galaxy S9 will have a 5.8-inch Super AMOLED display and Galaxy S9+ a 6.2-inch display.

In India, the devices are likely to be powered by Samsung’s own Exynos 9810 systems-on-chip, which according to media reports is said to deliver iPhone like CPU performance.

The Mobile World Congress 2018 is biggest mobile industry event and a conference featuring prominent executives representing mobile operators, device manufacturers, technology providers, vendors and content owners from across the world.
